Most recent image of the Sun. Imaged on 04/01/2017.
First attempt at Solar imaging. Full disc chromosphere and outer prominence.
The chromosphere is a layer that is about 250 miles above the photosphere, but the chromosphere is usually too weak to be seen against the brighter photosphere.
Short animation of solar activity, consisting of only ten frames. Planning to do longer animations in the future. (more below)
Second picture is of the solar "limb" and some promineces. Limb is latin for edge, and the Sun gets darker and redder nearer the edge.
Solar Prom Animation.
Image of the Chromosphere superimposed overĀ a Photosphere image. Both taken within minutes of each other.
Phtosphere is bright light layer that lies below the cooler more active Chromospher layer.
