SOUL NEBULA
7,500 light years from Earth and 100 light years across.
Young star forming regions in the center have created voids by pushing away the gas via solar winds.
Imaged in narrow band (Ha,Oiii,Sii). It’s also know as Sh2-199, IC1848, or Embryo Nebula.
Equipment used: 60mm refractor, PHD guiding, 20min subframes.

HEART NEBULA
Only 2.5 degrees from the Soul Nebula, and aply named for it’s shape.
Also imaged in narrow band and the Hubble palette used for color.
Along with the Soul, these two nebula span 300 light years acorss.
Equipment used: 60mm refractor, PHD guiding, 20min subframes

Subframes to show the three wavelengths, or narrow bands, of light that were taken for the colored images above.
These are very faint objects and narrow band helps with filtering out unwanted light so only source  data is collected.
(Hydrogen-Alpha - 656.3nm)      (Oxygen-III - 500.7nm)       (Sulfur-II - 672.4nm)
Above and below are two widefield images to help show these nebula's place in the night sky.
Taken with a Sony A6000 consumer grade digital camera.

Top picture also includes the neighboring double star cluster (NGC 869, NGC 884)
Top picture taken with a 50mm lens, and the bottom with a 14mm lens.
Wanted to get take an image of the Double Star Cluster near Heart/Soul nebula. Just a few short RGBL subframes for this image.
